Hammock stands - Frames for Hammocks

Different Styles of Hammock stands and frames

Here at Hammock Heaven we stock a sell a large range of hammock frames and hammock stands. What’s the difference between a frame and a stand.... no idea, they just seem to be known by both names, call them what you want we have plenty in stock!

For standard hammocks we have stands in 3 different sizes of metal and one size of wooden hammock frame. All stands are adjustable as all authentic hammocks are handmade and will vary slightly in length. The different size stands are to accommodate hammocks from different parts of the world. For example our entire Mexican hammocks are around 3.8 – 4.1 metres long, whereas are single hammocks from Ecuador are around 3.2 metres long, hence the need for different length stands.

Our metal stands are all steel and most with a gun metal grey powder coated finish. They last well outside and are easily assembled and disassembled; some come with their own carry bags.

The wooden stands are more expensive; however have a lovely finish and a great look. They are ideally suited to being on a deck in a reasonable well covered and protected area.

Check out our stands on the website or come into hammock Heaven in Noosa... Australia’s BIGGEST hammock shop!

For information on hammock chair frames see the next blog or give us a call in the shop.

Mexican Ponchos - Hammock Heaven

Genuine Mexican Ponchos

Just like the sombreros we sell, ponchos are quite an iconic image of Mexico. At our shop in Noosa and in our online store www.hammockheaven.com.au we stock undoubtedly Australia’s biggest range of genuine Mexican ponchos.

All adult sizes are one size fits all. Falsa ponchos are the biggest, then Saltillo and lastly rayado ponchos are slightly smaller. For full sizes details check our website listings, drop into the store or call us.

Our range of ponchos is;

  1. The Saltillo (pronounced SAL-TE-YO). We also call this the party poncho as it is the brightest. It is a poncho that is essentially a Mexican sarape blanket with a hole cut out to put you head through (with a nicely sown border around the cut). In fact if you look at most authentic Mexican blankets you will notice a sown in decorative stripe or mark in the centre, letting you know where to cut if you want to mark a poncho. We have Saltillo ponchos available in many different colour themes.
  2. Rayado ponchos. These ponchos are also very colourful but have less stripes and feature a more dominant main colour with just a few stripes and designs in the lower half of the poncho. Made from the same material as saltillos, again we have these ponchos in a wide variety of colour options.
  3. Falsa ponchos. These are made from a different style of Mexican blankets, a looser and thicker weave, these are the style of poncho made famous by Clint Eastwood in all those westerns in the 60’s and 70’s. Again we have these ponchos in a variety of different colour themes including lot’s in the cowboy two tone browns so you can look just like Clint!

Great for winter or cooler summer nights, ponchos are fully reversible, very practical and really good fun! You always get a smile with a Mexican Poncho!

Mexican Hammocks in different sizes - Hammock Heaven

How to choose the size of a Mexican Hammock?

Here at Hammock Heaven, Australia’s largest hammock shop, located in Noosa, this is a question we hear at least a few times every day.

Colour... well hey, we’ll leave that for another day, with over 1000 hammocks in stock, hammock colour deserves its own post!

Back to size: We stock authentic hand woven Mexican hammocks in single, double, king and jumbo.

Single size Hammock: is great for 1 adult user or even two smaller adults or children but it will be a bit cosy.

A double size hammock gives a single user LOTS of space to relax in and they also won’t be to squeezy if they have a mate in their hammock with them.

A king size hammock is a great hammock for two adults to really spread out. In a king hammock two people can easily lay across the hammock and read the Sydney morning Herald without really bothering each other!

A Jumbo size hammock and you will definitely have the biggest hammock on the block! Mum, Dad and a couple of kids can all get lost in there. That said lots of people get themselves a jumbo just for the pure luxury of being able to spread out and move around as much as they want in their SUPER big hammock!

All our authentic Mexican hammocks are handmade and as such will vary slightly in length, in general they will be around 3.8 metres long or a bit more. So long as you have at least 3.6 metres between your hanging points you can install any size of Mexican hammock from single to jumbo.

For any questions on hanging your hammock please drop into the store or email us or call the shop on 07 5473 0093. In store and online we have a great range of hammock accessories to help you hang your hammock.

Mexican Blankets - Sarapes - Hammock Heaven

Mexican Sarapes, Serapes, or Mexican blankets

At Australia’s largest hammock shop we also stock Australia’s largest range of authentic Mexican blankets. Whether you are in Noosa and can come to the store, or you are shopping on line you can be assured no one has Mexican blankets and textiles in the range of colours, sizes and styles that we do.

At any given time we have over two thousand authentic Mexican blankets, rugs, floor rugs and more in stock. In traditional sarapes, the colourful striped blankets that Mexico is most famous for we stock two sizes and over 10 colour themes in each size. Then comes our range of loose weave Mexican “Falsa” blankets, hundreds of colours, these blankets are proving very popular for yoga blankets and yoga mats. Add to that our range of floor rugs with various designs, including lovely Aztec diamonds and pyramids, again in a huge variety of colours.

We know these blankets are the real deal because they are made in a co-operative in the same small town my parents live in. I’m Mexican and grew up with the kids of the families that make all our Mexican textiles and I am very proud to be helping them reach an international audience for their products. These blankets are all lovely and soft and we are able to sell them at a great price because they come straight from the weaving workshop to us, no middle men so no extra costs to cover.

Mexican blankets from Hammock Heaven make great gifts, eye-catching and unique they are great to give as presents. Use them as picnic rugs, beach blankets, table cloths colourful bed spreads, car seat covers for hot rods or anything else you can think of. They are very long lasting, machine washable and will last for years.

WATCH OUT FOR THE CHEAP ASIAN COPIES! Buy authentic Mexican blankets from a real Mexican at Hammock Heaven in Noosa or online.
