Hammock Heaven is owned by husband and wife couple, Ana Lucia Lopez and John Reeves. A main driving force for Ana in developing the business has been to bring to Australia a lot of the products that Mexico is famous, for such as colourful blankets and hammocks that Ana feels really combine beautifully with Australia’s outdoor lifestyle. As the business is growing so too is the range and on a recent buying trip to Mexico Ana met with artisans producing some very typical Mexican handicrafts including stunning hand cut “papel picado” and eco friendly children’s crayons made from jungle hardwood. Ana’s drive will ensure the range continues to evolve with interesting and typical handicrafts not only from Mexico but from all over Latin America.
John has a passion for all things fair trade and ensures all the goods sold by Hammock Heaven are ethically produced and that artisans are fairly recompensed for their work and skills. With his background in working throughout Latin America on capacity building programmes and conservation projects John has an understanding of the need for micro enterprises to be supported by first world buyers and retailers. Especially projects that are both environmentally and economically viable and sustainable.
The Hammock Heaven retail outlet is Australia’s biggest purpose designed hammock showroom where the hammock enthusiast can come in and try out over 25 different styles and sizes of hammock.
